چکیده
Phosphorus (P) unavailability and lack of organic matter in calcareous soils semiarid climates are the major reasons for low crop productivity. This field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm The University Agriculture Peshawar, during summer 2015 to investigate impact plant residues (PR) (faba bean, garlic paper mulberry residues) phosphorous sources [(60 120kg ha-1) from single super phosphate (SSP) poultry manure (PM)] with (+) without (-) solubilizing bacteria (PSB) on phenological development, growth biomass yield hybrid maize “CS-200”. Among PR, application faba bean residue found delay development (days tasseling, silking physiological maturity), improved (taller plants, higher leaf area per index) produced highest bean>garlic>paper residues). Application P rate ha-1 inorganic source more beneficial terms better (120-SSP≥120-PM>60-SSP>60-PM kg ha-1). plots PSB showed enhanced significantly taller plants index yield. On basis these results we concluded that residues, phosphorus either or inoculation seed total study area.

Maize (Zea mays L.).
Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
متن کاملGlyphosate-resistant Volunteer Maize (zea Mays L.): Impact and Management
The United States is the largest producer of maize in the world. Maize-soybean is the most prominent crop rotation in the Midwestern United States. Glyphosate-resistant volunteer maize is a problem weed not only in soybean, but also in continuous maize or sugarbeet rotations. Storm damage, harvesting problems, poor stalk quality, and insect damage, among other factors, can lead to kernel and ea...
متن کاملPotassium Management for Improving Growth and Grain Yield of Maize (Zea mays L.) under Moisture Stress Condition
Potassium (K) fertilizer management is beneficial for improving growth, yield and yield components of field crops under moisture stress condition in semiarid climates. Field experiments were conducted to study the response of maize (Zea mays L., cv. Azam) to foliar and soil applied K during summer 2013 and 2014. The experiments were carried out at the Agronomy Research Farm of The University of...
متن کاملResin-Extractable Phosphorus, Vanadium, Calcium and Magnesium as Factors in Maize (Zea mays L.) Yield
Resin extraction of soil permits evaluation of ratios of readily extracted elements and correlation of concentrations obtained with crop yield. This information provides guidance on potential genotype selection and fertility management. Two hybrids of maize (Zea mays L.), designated 2292 and 3895, were grown annually in rotational succession on a 3.2-ha site with soybean (Glycine max L.) and wh...
متن کاملGrowth and Yield Response of Maize (Zea mays L.) to Different Rates of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilizers in Southern Nigeria
The effect of twelve different rates of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers on growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.) in southern Nigeria was evaluated between June and October, 2007. The results of the study showed that application of 120kgN/ha + 0kgP/ha and 60kgN/ha + 40kgP/ha significantly increased the growth of maize than other treatments. The application rate of 120kgN/ha +40kgP/ha signi...
